Horse Supplements And The Way To Keep Cats Out Of Your Backyard

By Mark Givens

Horse supplements take care of your horse. The same goes for your horse fence. How about your pet cat? How can you take care of it? The initial line of defense when keeping cats out of your garden is to ensure that you have your limits secure. If there are any breaks in your fence, you must ensure that you block them to avoid any low access. Cats are very nimble creatures, and can jump quite high. Normally they could jump a fence, and that's why you must also spend money on string or taut wire over the top.

If a cat has made his way into your backyard, it might be difficult to get him out. Many people choose to use canines, simply because dogs are known to dislike cats. There are several breeds of dogs out there that totally dislike cats, such as pit bulls as well as Dobermans. Cats are completely fearful of these breeds, and will run away if they see them about. All cats are acknowledged to dislike water as well. If you see a cat in your garden, water usually gets him out. All it takes is a bucket of water or a nicely aimed squirt using a garden hose to make him run away.

After you've hit the feline with water repeatedly, he should get the hint not to come back anymore. If he comes back, just squirt him or throw more water on him right up until he gets the idea. Guarding your plants is a different tale. Mothballs are claimed to be very effective, as cats don't like the scent. You can use mothballs around your plants, garden borders, as well as over the fence. There are other repellents that you can use as well, like cayenne peppers, tobacco, lavender oil, citronella oil, mustard oil, and even lemon grass oil.

If you visit your local hardware or lawn shop, you can find motion activated sprinklers. They work great in keeping cats out of your garden. Once you put in the sprinkler system and a cat enters the vicinity, the detector will pick up the cat's presence and instantly shoot out a jet of water that will douse the kitty. In many cases, all it takes is a few times of exposure to the sprinkler before a cat learns to stay out of that area. Sound devices that feature high frequencies are also a terrific way to discourage cats, although they aren't annoying to people.

You can find several different models, such as those that stay on all the time, and those that are motion detected. To make use of this type of device, you'll need to make sure that the model you've got is strong enough to cover the whole area. If the model you are using is sufficiently strong to protect your entire garden, it should suffice in scaring off any undesirable animals. You may also use commercial repellents too.
