Choose Scratching Posts For Cats To Play

By Laura Gallagher

A happy cat has a happy owner. By choosing one of the vast number of scratching posts for cats that are on sale today you should be able to achieve this. You can find both simple and more complicated versions that will provide many hours of pleasure.

These products are particularly helpful for providing a way for your pet to exercise inside the home. It is also a way to sharpen claws and exercise paws. Pet owners are particularly keen to purchase this product if their pet is prone to spoiling carpets, curtains and furniture. The focus on this item distracts a cat from doing damage elsewhere.

Even the cheap basic versions usually have toys attached. Balls or furry animals on pieces of rope attract your pet to play and exercise. It is a way of helping your pet to develop coordination and agility whilst having fun. There are some tall ones that give a greater challenge to larger cats or energetic kittens. Catnip is in some of these and this keeps the attention of your cat.

The elaborate kinds are more expensive but offer a whole range of extra challenges for your cat. They are an activity center as well as a post. As well as the statutory post there are shelves, tunnels and a variety of toys dangling from the various levels.

Platforms are a great attraction for pouncing on whilst some enclosed tunnels offer a secluded place to sleep. Softly covered areas are pleasant to lie on. The poles, themselves, are covered in a stronger, more hard wearing material to resist the sharp claws.

There are some that resemble a hammock that is attached to two posts. Whichever scratching posts for cats you choose you will be able to find different designs, sizes, shapes and costs. There will be one just perfect for your pet, and for you, too!
