The Arduous Task of Selecting Cat Names

Cat lovers take the task of naming a cat very seriously and can spend hours searching for a suitable name. They want to display their love for the pet when they go about selecting a suitable name. They will not go rushing to the internet to find a suitable name, but will spend hours studying the cat, reading up about its breed. They will then decide what to name it. A cat lover may decide to name the pet after studying its habits; how it stalks, walks, meows, sleeps, scratches or purrs. Cat lovers also want to be admired by friends and neighbors for selecting a suitable name for their pet. They don't want people snickering when they tell the cat's name. They take it as an insult. That is why, for cat lovers, naming a new feline member is quite difficult. But they do put a lot of effort in doing this exercise.

You do give a lot of thought to naming your siblings or you regret what your parents named you, and you may spend the same amount of time and energy searching for suitable cat names. Well, while the unnamed kitten sleeps in your lap, you can seek help on the internet. Search for cat names on the internet and you will be pleasantly surprised to see that there are thousands of sites that have suggestions for cat names. Some advocate cat names to be based on the traits of the breed of the cat that you have acquired. Others advocate common cat names, and still others list all possible cat names.

While all this may be very confusing, it's best to select a few names that appeal to you. After all, it's your cat and what you name it is totally up to you. The cat to be named will have no objections, like sibling hardly object to what they have been named, as they are too young to object and they don't understand what the fuss is all about. However, use your imagination when surfing through cat names.

People let their imaginations run wild when naming cats and at times even get confused about it. But now there is the internet to help in finding cat names. Enter 'cat names' in any search engine and you have millions of sites suggesting cat names. Once you start checking out the sites, you can get confused and exasperated. You should just go by the name you want for your cat. As long as you are happy with the name you have given to your cat and it responds to it, everything should be fine.

There are no rules for cat names, as this is between the owner and the cat. Of course, the cat does not have a say in it and will go through life responding to whatever name you have named it. Cats are known to respond to their names when they feel like it; if it doesn't suit their mood, they will studiously ignore you. If you are confused about naming your cat, you can get help, but its best to follow your instincts and choose whatever name you want. The internet can help you select a suitable name. Do make sure that you name a cat based on its breed and traits. Don't make the mistake of naming it 'Furry' only to discover that it has shed its baby hair and has a short coat.

The cat's name should be short and easy to pronounce so that young children can also say it easily. Also, a cat will respond to a short name as well. In fact, even if you have given it a long complex name, it will just recognize your voice and the first part of its name when called.
