Healthiest Pet Food Suggestions For Dogs

By Janis Hickman

There are many pet owners that get worried about the things that they feed to their pets, especially for dogs. Most of them think that they are giving the healthiest pet food to their dogs when in fact they are not. Not all dog foods are actually healthy and nutritious. For dogs to become active, they need to receive proper nutrients.

The commercial dog foods that you often buy are not all natural. Most of them are made from processed foods and preservatives were added in them. They are the equivalents of junk foods in the human sense. If you are feeding your dogs with these regularly, you will risk their health and may experience the bad results on a long-term basis.

However, there is another option that you can use. There are those that have been properly processed to add nutrients to the meal content which your dog needs. However, before you can choose one which will be appropriate for your dogs, you also need to know about the basic needs of your dog first.

First, you will need to get information about your dog and the nutrients that they need. If you have a local veterinarian, you can ask him or her for some tips. This is important since each specie actually has different needs and they also have different preferences. It is best that you know what you need first before actually searching for the appropriate item for you.

Most dogs however are in need of certain ratios for their diet. Most of the time, it should consist of fifty percent in meat and fifty percent in vegetables. These also must not contain any harmful elements like chocolate and preservatives that may kill the dog. Also, it would be best to buy those that do not contain fillers like wheat and grain.

Such foods that have more meat content are actually healthier for your dogs. If there is any grain content, make sure that these are appropriate for your dog. Some of the common grains that are healthy for dogs are millet, brown rice, rolled oats, and barley. These should also be fed in whole form so that it can give more fiber for your dogs.

Avoid buying those that have artificial chemical-based preservatives as part of their ingredients. You should avoid those that contain Ethoxyquin, BHT, and BHA. It is better to go for those with more natural preservatives like Vitamin C and vitamin E. Also, avoid feeding them too much vegetarian meals. This is for the fact that they are natural carnivores.

Instead of buying regular brands and economy ones, buy premium ones for more natural ingredient content. Also when it is considered holistic, this is actually one of the healthiest pet food that are available. Most of such labels are one hundred percent in nutrition. Although these are actually costly products, buying them will really keep your dog healthy.
