Individuals who have foul odors coming from their mouth often try to avoid other people. This can lead to isolation or possible depression. However, eliminating the problem is easy for those who are knowledgeable about what can cause bad breath.

People who suffer from halitosis, know just how embarrassing the condition is. Many things commonly cause people to have the condition and most of them are easy to prevent or eliminate. Nobody needs to worry about using plenty of mints or chewing gum when around others.

Odor causing foods is a common issue. People consuming them usually deal with strange aromas coming from the oral cavity. Garlic, tuna and onions are all guilty of having foul scents. Their oils absorb into the bloodstream and come out through the pores.

Bad hygiene is another factor that can result in such problems. The teeth need to be cared for on a daily basis. When bacteria collect it will emit a strong odor. Abscesses and tooth decay may also occur. Brush and floss regularly to avoid such issues from cropping up. See a dental professional on a regular basis to ensure good oral health. Having a dry mouth is no fun and it will result in a terrible smell. Medications or health conditions tend to create the issue. Prevent this by rinsing the oral cavity with a hydrating mouthwash. Lack of moisture can also lead to other problems including periodontal disease.

Illness can result in bad odors. Many diseases make people have odd smells coming from their body. Liver failure will create a fish like scent. Diabetics often have fruity breath. Acid reflux gives of a putrid stench. Some medical procedures may lead to certain aromas. For instance, chemotherapy leaves a metallic smell and taste in the oral cavity. Discuss such issues with a doctor to find out what treatment options are available.

Often times, people will make lifestyle choices that result in foul oral odors. This is often the case with individuals who smoke on a regular basis. Those who drink lots of coffee, tea or sodas may also have a problem.

Knowing what can cause bad breath is the first step in beating the problem. Taking proper care of the mouth and avoiding certain foods will alleviate the risk of developing the condition. There is no need for anybody to feel like they have to hide from the world due to oral issues.
