When puppies are taken to an unknown place, they usually experience what is known as puppy separation anxiety. Puppies also will have a natural bond with its parents and this will be broken when it leaves its parents. Generally there will be healthy relationship between the pet and the owner.

Problematic situations occur when the dog completely depends on its owner. If the puppy is defecating and urinating in the house, it may be suffering from separation anxiety in puppies. It also results in behavioral problems like barking, howling, whining, destruction of beds, furniture, floors, doors and other items. It also becomes hyperactive. In these cases, the dog may also get depressed and suffer from both physiological and medical problems. So as the first step you should take your puppy for check up at vet's clinic.

Separation anxiety is the major culprit if the behavior of dog changes as soon as departure from its owner. When the owner gets back, this also results in prolonged greetings! Dogs may also get easily attached when they find loving owner as they might have undergone traumatic events in their past.

There are also certain dog breeds which get attached to the owners in a very short time. Puppy separation anxiety can be seen in dogs that were separated from its mother too early and it can also be seen in dogs that have spent lots of time in animal shelter and pet shops. Dogs show unique behavioral problems when the lifestyle and routine of their owners change suddenly. In a few days, just at the anticipating of the owner leaving, this anxiety cycle may begin!

There are several methods to cure puppy separation anxiety. When leaving a puppy alone, the primary goal is to make sure that it's busy with something. Puppies should be trained to be alone at a very young age.

Before leaving, if reassure your puppy that you will be returning back very soon then it thinks that you are rewarding his tantrums. So if you have to leave just do it. You may also want to make your puppy engaged in tiring activities before leaving him alone. He'll fall asleep soon. In extreme cases, there are some medications that will help puppy separation anxiety.
