Beaded Dog Collars As Unique As Your Best Friend

By Delia Hewitt

Your dog is your best friend. They understand when you are feeling low and provide comfort. They greet you when you come home and pine when you leave. Every dog has its own personality as individual as yours. As an individual we like to dress differently and express ourselves through what we wear. Beaded dog collars can be your friend's way of expressing their unique style.

A collar can be beautiful as well as functional. There are many materials on the market which provide a place to attach a leash and hang an ID tag. An exquisite beaded collar gives both beauty and functionality. They come in a range of sizes and designs to suit all tastes.

If you have a large male dog, you might think that beading is not macho and would prefer studs or spikes. These can be harmful to your dog and others in some cases and although they present a tough image may not be best suited to your requirements. A similar effect can be achieved with beads but without any risk.

Small dogs enjoy being pampered and what better way than with a collar designed especially for them. You may want to have a selection of collars in various colors so your best friend always matches your outfit. Some companies also make a wide range of pet jewelry to mix and match.

The correct fit is important in any collar. It should not be too tight nor too loose as both could cause your dog to suffer an injury. Whether buying for yourself or as a gift, measure the neck or an existing well-fitting collar. Be particularly careful when measuring for breeds with excess neck skin.

A person who enjoys making things themselves could quite easily decorate their dogs own leather or webbing collar with beads from a craft store. Try to pick wood or plastic as glass could splinter and injure you or your dog. You need strong fingers to work leather and a good thimble. There is always a satisfying feeling when you design and craft something yourself and you could save money.

Your local pet store may not stock beaded dog collars. If you cannot find one locally, beautiful examples can be found from suppliers on the internet. Some offer personalization or a design service as well as a range of pre-made styles. They come in all shapes and sizes so whether your best friend is a goofy Great Dane or a cheeky Chihuahua you will be able to find one to fit their personality.
