Hints for dog training

By Zhanghui Zhenlihoa

Dog training should last in nine to fifteen minutes intervals at least twice in a single day. The hint is to keep your dog interested in your lessons while keeping it short and sweet. If your pet messes up a few times, don't get all angry at your dog - remain patient and make it repeat the command. If it succeeds be generous in giving it praise. Properly rewarding your pet at the appropriate time can bolster its confidence to train.

Getting your pet's attention is also good tip if you want to train it properly. To get your dog to pay attention to you, don't feed it before you train it. Research has proven that teaching dogs tricks during training helps them concentrate more. But when praising it, be careful not to give it any food treats, as this may disrupt its concentration. You're not feeding your feed not because you want it to go hungry, you are training it to be interested in your training regardless of whether they'll be price at the end of it or not.

Punishing and rewarding your properly is a helpful tip at improving its training routine. If a pet has had no success at grasping your commands, reprimand it properly without being cruel to it. Punish it correctly but assure it afterwards - it may have screwed up but it doesn't mean you're angry at it. Remember, if your dog is too scared then it could make your training time very difficult for both of you.

Before training your dog, it's a good tip to warm-up beforehand. Play with it for a few minutes or engage it in a friendly game of fetch before getting serious with its training. Doing this will not only warm both you to be mentally and physically prepared for training, it also puts both you and your dog in a good mood.

Distractions can easily ruin your pet's mental focus; the tip is to keep your dog away from other people, dogs and most especially cats - since it might end up chasing it across the park than train with you to behave properly.
