What Does Home Pet Euthanasia Entail?

By Suzette Ross

Most people find it hard to take their ailing animal through home pet euthanasia. People are reluctant about taking this course because the animals are as close to them as their family members. Therefore, the need to terminate an animals life can be the most heart wrenching thing anybody has to do. The only reason as to why a person takes such measures is because they need to end the animal's pain.

It is harder for a person to decide when is the right time to execute this action. It is obvious that most of the people are not aware of what the action involves. The whole process is centered around finding a humane way of executing the death of the animal in a bid to end their suffering.

Most people are of the opinion that it is better if their animal just died naturally. It is not fair for an animal to continue living in pain just so that the owner can be guilt free. So, the best decision that the owner can make on behalf of their animal is to let them be executed. Discuss this alternative with the medical practitioner so that you can be advised on the best course of action. Make sure that the pet's veterinary is also made aware of your intentions so that they can offer their advise.

Even if the process is meant to end suffering for the animal, it is still a hard undertaking for the owner and the medical staff. Most of the times, when an animal is executed it is because there is no chance that they will get better. Once the doctors have done all they can and they are not getting any results then it is time to consider this alternative. It is the only way in which the animal is able to escape all the pain it has been going through.

There is a specific fluid that is injected into the animal's body to trigger their death. The doctors ensure that there is no pain involved when the animal goes through the stage. The substance is injected into the animal's body and once it get to the brain its functions cease. When the brain is no longer working, it is impossible for the heart to continue beating.

The other alternative would be to use excess anesthesia on the animal. Different animals are able to die at different intervals but neither of then feel any kind of pain. There is no indication that death is looming by, the animal is just faced with the urge to sleep.

Animals are not the same as humans, they are designed in a manner that they do not know death. Since the concept of death is foreign to them they are not afraid of home pet euthanasia. Most of the time the animals do not mind dying because they are able to get rid of the constant pain they have been experiencing. It is possible for the owners to stay with their animals as they die.
