Organizing A Fundraising For Cancer Patients

By Tabitha Ferrell

Experts say that around one in every eight women in the U. S. Are likely to have breast cancer. This condition can be life threatening, especially if not discovered at an earlier stage. What is even worse is that treatments for it can be expensive. This is why conducting fundraising for cancer patients is always helpful.

Breast cancer is very deadly. It affects not only the overall functioning of the body but also the self esteem and dignity of a person. It occurs not only in women who are taking hormonal supplements but also among men. Imagine how these people would feel if they find out they have the condition. Helping them will surely mean a lot.

However, if the community works hand in hand for the affected individuals, the impossible just might be made possible. Fighting for serious conditions such as cancers can be tough. But with other people ready to lift you up, particularly on the financial area, things should be a lot easier.

It is not easy to organize an even to collect funds for these people. It will require a lot of planning. So to do this more efficiently, you need to gather a group of people who are committed to making the event successful. Tap on friends and family members, especially those who have had loved ones who suffered or are still suffering from the diseases itself.

To gather funds for your event, start by looking for sponsors in your location. Knock on the doors of large companies or even small ones who want to expose themselves for commercial purposes. You can also send solicitation letters to your local celebrities and officials to ask them for financial assistance on the matter.

A very common activity to do for raising funds is conducting raffles. Using the items you got from your sponsors as the prizes for the raffles, for instance, you should be able to sell many tickets to people. Make sure the tickets will give you enough amount to give to the victims. They need to be sold by dedicated people as well.

You can also organize auctions. Invite people from here and there to sell their valuable items for the sake of charity. You can also conduct bike rides, fun runs, walks, wine tasting and even dinner dances for the same reason. Just remember to calculate your expenses well so that you do not end up paying more for your overhead costs.

Fundraising for cancer patients can really be beneficial to the victims themselves. However, this is not an easy thing to do. It takes a lot of courage and communication skills to be able to organize events. Therefore, it is very important to look for organizers who are willing to spend a lot of time for the project and are indeed resourceful.
