Pet Burial Markers For Everlasting Memorials

By Rebekah Alford

When you face the loss of a companion animal you might be a bit shocked at how deep the grief strikes you, and the details such as pet burial markers can be a symbol of healing for you. It might take you days or weeks before you are emotionally ready to place a memorial marking item at the grave. When you are ready you will find that you can let go just a bit more.

People in your life may try to be helpful in less than helpful ways. You may be encouraged to hide your pain, discard your grief, or simply move on and not think about it. While their intention is good, what really matters is that your pain is real. The relationship you had with your companion animal is one that certainly deserves honoring. It is perfectly OK to give yourself a healing space from those around you while you contend with your emotions.

Healing starts with the grieving process. Crying, mourning, and allowing the emotional response to wash through you is where the first stage of healing from loss begins. There are chemical reactions that happen in the brain during this time which literally help flush away the pain you are feeling. If you deny the process it actually lasts a lot longer.

As you begin to see the clarity as the pain begins to wash away, you may want to honor your loved one in a special way. Giving the loss a final farewell that sits well with your heart is important. Letting go is part of the overall process. This is why marking the grave site is often a moving experience.

When you select a marking item you will notice that there are many different types to choose from. Stones and crosses can strike you as perfect for the memorial. This step can help you find greater peace about the loss. In many ways, it is really about giving your companion a proper farewell.

There are some relationships between animals and humans that are so strong and deep that the connection just cannot be broken. Feeling the presence of your loved one is a comfort once some time goes by. Many people have a connection that continues well beyond death that overtakes them with the love that was shared. By honoring the life relationship you will find it easier to continue a relationship of love.

The body of a companion animal is truly just a body. The essence of who he or she was is energy. Energy moves but does not die. Your interpretation of his or her afterlife can also provide comfort for you as you walk through the next stage of life without your special companion animal.

If you want to find pet burial markers that can be personalized or comforting you will do so on your time. Many people wait a week before they start seeking out the stones, crosses, and other memorializing objects. Giving the grief the space to pass, allowing yourself to go through the healing process, and moving on despite the loss can help you open your heart to the next companion animal that needs a good home.

So many families consider their pet a family member in today's world. We've been thinking of getting a grave marker for our cat. I think that would help us remember her life throughout growing up.
