Silver Labrador Retriever Puppies For Sale Are The World's Best Dogs

By Kerri Turner

Getting a new puppy is an exciting time for every family. This new addition to the family also brings new responsibility along with it. Silver Labrador Retriever puppies for sale will grow into the world's best dogs as long as they are properly trained. All family members should be prepared and understand how the new pet will be trained. It is important for everyone to follow the same methods in order for the animal to learn. Make sure the house is also prepared for the arrival of the new family member.

Prior to bringing the puppy home, make sure an area has been chosen that he may consider his own. This will be the area designated for him to sleep as well as relax, and is best located in a quiet out of the way spot rather than in a busy room or near a frequently used door. This will help to keep the dog calm rather than on alert at all times.

A crate is the best choice when it comes to teaching the dog which part of the house belongs to him. It will also make house breaking much simpler. Until the rules have been established it is best to not allow the new puppy the run of the house. He needs to first understand that he is lowest on the chain of command and the house belongs to the family. He is allowed to roam by invitation only.

A puppy may not be used to this new environment and will bark and whine, sometimes incessantly at night. As long as he is located in a safe area where he can not get hold of dangerous items he will be fine. Resist the temptation to let him out of the crate, play with, feed, or otherwise interact with him at this point. Otherwise he may end up with a chronic barking problem. It is better to give him a small blanket, a ticking clock, or a radio set at a low volume. This will soothe him and eventually the night time noise will cease.

Teach the dog his name. This is so simple it happens automatically. Do not spend time worrying about it. Make sure to use his name often when interacting with him. Call his name and when he comes reward him with a treat. Once he has associated answering the call of his name with food he will be eager to answer.

Teaching Rover to sit is the first thing he should learn in order to teach obedience as well as other commands. This is not a difficult thing to do. Give the order - sit, and then help him into a sitting position. With one hand on the backside and one on the chest, gently push the backside down while raising the front up. Once the dog is seated, give him a treat. Eventually he will sit on command.

When a pet is properly trained he is enjoyed by the entire family. He is a pleasure to the neighborhood rather than a nuisance. Take time to teach and the family will have the best dog imaginable.

Labs are known to be the best dogs available for families with children. They are smart, protective, and gentle. This is certainly the most family friendly pet around. Be sure to take a look at Silver Labrador Retriever puppies for sale. Most people will want to take one home... Or maybe even two.
