Choosing Between a Book and a DVD for Dog Training

By Mariahnna Samuel

Dog owners and dog trainers alike have the same problem on finance when it comes to training their dogs. In terms of growing and training a dog, there are three basic things that an owner can choose from -using a book, using a dvd, or hiring a dog trainer. Having said that, each dog owner should know what he or she would need to know about dog training and the pros and cons of each choice that he has. After all, once the choice has been made, the owner has to live with that physically and financially.

First of your choices would be hiring a dog trainer. However, since hiring a dog trainer will mean economic costs, then it might mean that hiring a dog trainer would be economically risky especially if the dog is not for show. Hence, hiring a dog trainer would only be best for those people with no time and enough money.

Second off, there are a lot of dog training books that you can choose from and you can read together with your whole family. This is advantageous only if you take into account the fact that your dog can be easily taught and does not need a trainer anymore. You would need a lot of patience for this kind of dog training assistance. Keep in mind that this kind of training will never be for families who still have toddlers in their family and for families who cannot give enough time for the dog training.

Third, you can consider buying a dvd or video collection of dog trainers. Here, you are able to visually see how to handle your dog breed and what you need to train it. This kind of training works best for those who are willing to give their dogs some time during their free weekends.

On a final note, keep in mind that the choices that you would make would depend on three things -money, time and effort. Hence, you should be willing to go another extra mile for your pet dog. Training is not easy so you should be decisive as to whether or not to hire a trainer for your pet dog.
