Betta fish come from many different locations, and have a wide range pigments and tail and fin shapes. The most common Betta fish are Betta Splendens, as well as Betta Bellica.
Betta Splendens - Japanese Fighting Fish These Betta fish originally came from the coast of Thailand, grow to about 3+ inches, and usually live around three years. They're extremely threatening with other male Betta fish and have even been known to destroy their babies. Despite this aggression, they have the potential to be a very pairing for additional Sea Life that can share a tank with Bettas.
Betta Bellica These fish arrived from Malaysia. They are different looking, longer and sturdier than other species of Betta fish. The males are much larger than the females, and both sexes have a heart shaped rear fin. Malaysian Fighting Fish are ok outside of the water. They'll frequently jump out of the water while eating, and even may rest on top of leaves above of the water.
Kinds of Bettas - Betta Coccina Betta Coccina are from Sumatra and are one of the littlest types of Betta fish. They are generally dark red and can sometimes have a large dot on their rear. The most well known part of their appearance of the Sumatra Fighting Fish is that they have bright blue eyes. They are lighter in thickness, and the male and female of the species are almost the same in length.
Betta Picta Spotted Bettas are not extremely aggressive and not hard to breed. Unfortunately, they usually aren't very brightly colored and so are not a common type of Betta. Generally female Bettas can cohabitate, but with this particular species, it is vital to separate them since the females may occasionally fight over the male of the species. For breeding advice, examine Betta Fish Reproduction.
Types of Betta Colors While wild Betta fish only show strong pigments when angry, Betta have been bred to create this bright coloration stay. Typically the males will have more vivid colors, but they've been able to breed in some beautiful pigments in females now too. Several of the colors that are available in several types of bettas include red, blue, turquoise, orange, yellow, green, bright blue, royal blue, apricot, peach, white, and albino. There are one colored betta fish, and some species of bettas are even two or three colors.
Betta Fish Tails Bettas tails are one more trait of the species. The Veil tail is the most common and least expensive kind of Betta tails. The Halfmoon Betta is hardest to perfect and most expensive. Its tail opens into a complete half circle and is beautiful to behold.
There are a large number of additional tails including the delta, super delta, fan, round, spade, double, comb and crown.
