Locating Emergency Vet Hospitals Through A Pet Directory

By Latonya Barker

If you own pets, then you should have emergency numbers on hand. If you still do not have them and if an emergency strikes you will need to find them really fast. Try searching for emergency facilities on an online pet directory.

The animal directories online should have information you need including the address and contact info of vets in your area. A useful directory online should have a search option wherein you can search for what you need by typing in your ZIP code or town.

Follow these guidelines to get hold of emergency animal facilities near you. You can start your search via Google or another search engine. You will get a ton of results and you can narrow down your search by location or state. Once you get to directories that cover your state, search for an emergency facility by typing in your location or ZIP code.

You can try more than one option as some may not be open 24 hours. If you have an emergency situation when they are closed, they should have a messaging system or a recording that will lead you to an emergency facility that is open round the clock.

Have a pen and paper on hand because you might get a recording from a closed facility that may give you instructions on where to take your pet. You may also find more information online on websites of animal clinics. Before leaving for the animal emergency room, call the facility so that the vet can prepare for your arrival.

You can also try to call animal shelters or dog kennels to get phone numbers and addresses of 24 hour animal clinics and hospitals. Once you have the numbers and addresses, you should keep them in a safe place for future use. Post the info by the phone or on your fridge door.
