Expandable Pet Gates

By Todd Albert McGing

Exactly what situations would you need to have an expandable pet gate? Well, of course there are quite a few forms of pet gates to choose from. Some of the most common ones would be freestanding dog gates, but those are not automatically the best option for everyone. There are pressure mounted gates or hardware mounted gates that would be advisable for their sturdiness and firmness (hardware mounted for top of stairs, especially!). These are appropriate for dogs that are known as jumpers or sizable dogs and toddlers that could topple a freestanding gate. Hardware mount gates are recommended for home owners who want the barrier to be established indefinitely. But there are expandable pet gates for more expansive coverage of the wider areas in your house, too.

Obviously you are not going to be in the same room as the dog 24/7 and if you were to go from the front room to the dining room you could not reasonably be expected to shut the dog in the front room every time to stop him wondering off, If you did do this it might cause some separation anxiety, as the dog is unable to see through the door and does not understand why you have left him.

Undoubtedly, dog gates that are used for the doorway with a standard size cannot be used for those with wider openings. If the room happens to have two doors or a wider opening, a singular barrier would not be enough. The property owner may need to mix together two or three freestanding gates to fill the gaps. This is not the circumstance with expandable pet gates. These barriers can quickly be altered to adjust to the size of the hallway or stairs.

You may choose from an array of pressure mounted dog gate styles. There are those made of strong tubular steel that can be operated by an adult with one hand. When placed between rooms to let baby play undisturbed by large dogs like a Chow Chow or German Shepherd, the dog gate can be very helpful for the busy homemaker-mom. Whether you want a wooden dog gate or metal, a single or two-panel or extra wide dog gate that a dog won't be able to jump over is definitely a dog care essential.

He will be excited when your visitors arrive and want to be centre of attention (this is most likely why he misbehaves) the idea of the barrier is to allow him to take some time to calm down at the thought of the visitors and once he has you may open the tall indoor dog gate and let him join your guests. Once the initial excitement has worn off he can greet your visitors in a much more acceptable manor, this technique is remarkably effective and after a short time the gate becomes unnecessary as the dog recognises to be calmer when people come to your house.

So an expandable dog gate or two (or maybe just a static extra wide or irregular pet gate that comes in the width you need) could be the answer to your wide space coverage needs! Visit www.radiofence.com for a huge selection of dog gates.
