A Gift to Give Your Paralyzed Dog

By Alma Hnanguie

Just like how humans feel, dogs suffer pain when they no longer have the ability to move and walk around everytime they want. Humans are more patient in this sense. If they are immobilized due to some disease or if they happen to be disabled because of leg injuries, any individual can still do a lot of things with his hands. Therefore, he can keep himself busy and take his mind away from his sad conditions. However, a paralyzed dog doesn't have such privileges. It can't read a book or watch a good TV series and forget about its situation. It would most likely just mope around in a corner.

As your paralyzed dog bears with its situation, you surely can't just ignore his feelings about it. Since it is probably one of your best and loyal friends, you should not let it suffer immobility until the end of its days. You must seek for solutions to this problem as much as possible.

A good step to take is to visit the vet and consult him about the matter. The vet should be able to diagnose the causes and may even prescribe some medicines you can mix in your dog's food. However, there are cases when the healing process takes a very long time. Worse, the condition may even be permanent. In these circumstances, the most caring act you can do is buy a dog wheelchair. In fact, the vet might even recommend that you provide your dog the wheelchair.

Of course, a dog wheelchair does not cure paralysis or any injury that causes your pet's disability. Some vets would, however, admit that this may help a lot in hastening the healing process of curable cases. It's dog's nature to walk around anytime they want. If they have injuries, such activities may be detrimental as it may affect the damaged bones and muscles.

However, the dogs can move without hurting themselves further when they have a wheelchair to use. The end result is that treatment can proceed without getting too affected by your dog's movement. Your pet will surely appreciate the wheelchair and the freedom to be able to move again.
