Great Tips On How To Transport Your Pet Birds From One Place To Another

By Amelia Forster

It is a major concern for bird lovers to maintain comfort of birds while on the act of moving from one place to another. Other pets don't usually react negatively, some will do otherwise. But it would really depend on how friendly your birds are.

Always maintain its usual habits; don't try to alter its routine. Constant interaction with your pet and offering scheduled feeding will make it feel safe and secured.

Do a short research or queries regarding the route of your transport, making sure that the path is safe on the day that you are on the move. Check with veterinarians regarding the health status of your pet bird. You must be very observant and be able to determine any signs of stress shown by the bird such as pecking on its feathers. It is ideal for you to visit veterinary services if you are feeling hesitant about performing the move. Listen to every detail they have to say so that you wouldn't be risking the life of your darling bird.

It is better to use the usual cage your bird use to be in, so as not to frighten it with the new look. Toys, sways, and decks must be removed, as well as its food and water containers, for protection purposes. But doing so, you still must feed the bird on its scheduled feeding time. Temperature must constantly be maintained, and covering the cage with clothe can help during cold weathers. Be very careful though that as you open cages, birds can react vigorously, wanting to fly out as much as possible right at that moment.

If you are traveling longer routes, better construct a carrier specially made for such purpose. Your bird must get use to the new environment for some time, and if you accompany it until it is familiar with the area, then it might just make the process easier for you both.

Don't change too much of what the previous environment looks like to the present one. As much as possible, preserve the atmosphere that the bird got used to, such as placing familiar stuff around its cage. For less possible stress, place birds on areas where it can actually see the whole room and the comings and goings from its perspective.
