Train Your Dog With These 5 Easy Tips

By Kimberly Gross

Training dogs is not a hard. All you need is a little patience, dedication, and a few tips, and you too can teach your dog successfully.

Here are five top tips on how to train your dogs successfully:

To avoid your dog getting confused and so that they can learn to recognize commands easily only one person should be responsible for training the dog initially. Having too many trainers at one time can actually stifle the dog's natural ability to learn.

Positive reinforcement is the way to go. Whenever the dog does something right, you should give him a treat, so as to communicate to him that he needs to repeat the action. If the dog cannot understand or follow your commands, never push him. Dogs are not as intelligent as humans, they make mistakes. Chances are they will not learn something the first time you are trying to teach it; in fact, repetition is the only way to successfully teach a dog. Do not scold your dog as he might develop fear which will hinder his learning and willingness to be trained. You can use treats in order to encourage your dogs, although don't overdue it.

Don't teach a lot of commands at the same time, because it will only confuse the dog. Teach commands one after the other. If he cannot absorb it, try to stay on that command only because adding additional commands will just confuse the dog. Start with the basics.

Issue commands with as cheerful a voice as possible, so the dog will be happy to follow what you say to him. Generally speaking, dogs respond better to a low tone and a coaxing voice. If you scream and scare him, the response could suddenly drop.

Use a variety of places to train your dog. If you keep your dogs in a certain place like your home, he will not be able to adjust with the environment new people. Extend your training to the park and your whole neighborhood. It will be good for your dog to be exposed to other dogs and people.

Training your dog is going to take some time and patience, but it is worth it in the end. In the end, you will be the one to benefit when your dog is trained. Who knows, one day your dog might even save your life and give back every bit you gave to him.
