Dogs are considered to be man's best friend and having a dog as a pet is proven to help owners be happy and live longer. In addition to companionship, dogs can prove helpful, but only if they are trained appropriately. One tip to keep in mind when training your dog is to be sure that you establish clear goals before starting any sort of routine. This will ensure that you and your dog have a clear focus on the intended task or behavior. Direct action is essential to proper training.

Timing is essential when you are training your dog, you want to spend enough time training them but do not want go overboard. Start out with a small training session and up the time every day. See where your dog starts not paying attention to the training session.

Bring new people around who love dogs and understand the situation, and have them treat your pooch. They should extend the treat out sideways from their body, without looking at the dog. It's non-confrontational and teaches the dog that new people are exciting.

To house train your dog, you should establish a regular schedule for their meals. Take away their water at night. If your dog eats on schedule, you should be able to tell when it need to go outside. If you feed your dog right before you go to bed, chances are you will not be able to take it outside on time.
