Excellent Features Of Cat Poles

By Robert Baker

Cats have a natural instinct towards climbing whether it is furniture, tree or even on you. This nature of cats of climbing on things led to the development of cat poles. This allows your kitty to satisfy her desires in a way, which is safe both for them as well as for the furniture.

The poles are available in various models, styles and shapes. Many varieties have multiple posts, which are more attractive and fascinating to them. Kitties can pick the post they like and climb on them, sharpen their claws or just rest and relax. Since every pet has a different temperament, choose the one most suited to your pet.

The most common model available is the vertical pole. The design is generally a simple solid base with cylindrical rod. The posts are covered with a soft fabric that allows your kitty to sharpen the claws. Many times the scratching pad is supported by the rod that enables cats to climb up comfortably.

Many posts are designed at an inclined angle. This is done for the older animals as they cannot climb without support. The inclined plane reduces the effort in scratching. There is no provision of perch on top. You can make it more appealing by hanging some toy on it.

The horizontal ones are more interesting as they provide a stable and low level post. These occupy very little space and are perfect for apartments or smaller dwellings. Some of these posts are made up of wood like cedar, which is very durable and stands repeated scratching and gives a sturdy base to rest upon.

Owning cat poles has many advantages. They help you to keep your furniture safe. When the pets have their own place for climbing and scratching, the furniture does not get spoiled. The sisal rope is the ideal material for them.
