By Gill Butler

Training a dog is something that normally takes a lot of patience and commitment thus it is necessary that you know what to do in order to get your efforts to be effective. Being familiar with the various strategies in which Jack Russell Terriers respond and how to implement Jack Russel training can begin with these easy tips that could provide you with a great hand in your new adventure with your beloved pet.

When training obedience commands, think of moving your tone of voice up or down in a distinct manner associated with particular commands to help your dog remember them better. Dogs are excellent at understanding pitch variations even more than comprehending the sounds of the words. So if you adjust your tone of voice slightly each time you say a certain command, the dog will be more prone to remember what to do. Let's say you trained your canine pet the "come" command using happy tone of voice, if you'll use that command with angry or upset tone, he's less likely to follow you thinking that you're giving him a totally different command. That's also the reason why you need to be consistent during training. While it is advisable to try a variety of methods during Jack Russell training, just be sure to stick to one once you've found what is appropriate for your furry companion. You must be consistent with your training method as well as the rules you want to put into action.

It is easier to train a dog if you let him know that you are thrilled with what he did. During training, enhance desirable behavior with praise, treat, toys or playtime. As he is learning a new command, reward him with positive reinforcements such as treats and praise while games and walks can be given when the training session is finished. The golden rule to follow is that the good behavior produces the reward and not the reward creates good behavior.

If your four-legged companion isn't listening while you are training him, make certain that the dog is not ill. Understand that a sick dog won't learn successfully and there'll be no advantages to punishing your animal if he is feeling well. Penalty can have bad effects as well. If you're not able to decide if your pooch is sick, then get in touch with a vet for support.

Self awareness and understanding your canine companion are necessary to ensure successful Jack Russell training. If you do not know how your actions affect other people, there's no way you can have success with training your JRT.
