How to get rid of dog hair

By Jerry Welsh

Statistics data give credence to the theory that dogs are the most popular pets as 37% of households have one or more dogs. This data is somewhat expected given the affectionate and loyal personality of the dog as well as the close ties that is developed between these animals and their human family. A dog owner would know that along with the happy and entertaining moments, dog ownership is also loaded with a lot of concerns.

Dogs are lovable animals that would make wonderful pets but a dog will not be a good choice for an owner fussy with the cleanliness of the home. There is no doubt about the fact that dogs are wonderful creatures but these animals can be the cause of the horrible smell that permeates inside the house. The dog hair that is shed by the dog is another major concern of dog owners. Potential dog owners should not believe a breeder that says the puppy will not shed. The need to get rid of dog hair from all the surfaces of the house can be a tedious task that concerns most pet owners. As dog hair is too small to be easily picked up by the hand, the housewife will be in for the unending need to keep the home dog hair free.

Finding ways to lessen the dog hair that mars the appearance of the home is the best recourse to deal with this concern as dog owners will never consider to be parted from the pet. As mentioned, all dogs shed and some breed would shed continuously and other would be heavy seasonal shedders. Dog shedding can never be "cured" but to deal with excessive shedding, a pet owner may consider changing the diet of the dog. Excessive dog shedding is often caused by an allergy to commercial food.

To lessen the amount of dog hair inside the house try grooming your dog regularly. Dead hair that will be shed by the dog inside the house will already be removed if the dog is regularly brushed. Grooming the dog everyday will give the dog a healthy and attractive looking coat, improve owner and pet relationship and most importantly, lessen the amount of dog hair inside the house. A twice a week bath using pet shampoos formulated to moisturize the skin will make the hair follicle stronger thereby reducing the amount of hair fall.

Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum to remove dog shedding and maintain the cleanliness of the home. A lint roller is a friend that will make your task of removing dog hair from the couch or from your clothes a lot easier.
