Get rid of Common Behavior Problems By Labrador Training

By Kate Truman

It's not peculiar when the little pup that looked so darling at the pet store started to do some less than cute things around the house such as peeing next to the sofa rather than outside, gnawing the rug or creating unappealing holes in your backyard. He has also developed the habit of barking too much and jumping all over you. While such issues are totally disappointing, the good news is that the broad majority of dog behavior problems can be minimized and avoided by having your dog undergo Labrador training.

If your four-legged friend suffers from canine separation anxiety, make an effort to lie low each time you leave the house. Put simply, don't make a big deal out of it. Leave the house as calmly as you possibly can and stay away from teary goodbyes. In order to get your dog accustomed to you leaving, bring your keys and bag just near the door, just like you would when you depart. Return after a few seconds or before your canine pet begins to bark. Do the process again but this time, go out of the door. Go back inside after a few seconds and reward him for staying calm. As you repeat the process, lengthen your time being outside and your distance from the house. Through this, your furry pet will soon realize that there's no reason for him to be concerned since you will always come back.

Jumping is also a common dog problem owners experience. The next time your furry companion leaps up on you in excitement, tell him "off" in a firm voice, gently push him off and turn your back. The verbal command and act of moving him reinforces what the command signifies and turning eliminates his easy access to you. This achieves two things: 1) he ia not able to jump on you anymore, 2) he senses that he loses your attention which is the exact reverse of what he wants. This teaches him promptly never to jump on you.

Biting can be eliminated through Labrador training. Your canine companion should learn bite inhibition to stop him from biting forcefully. And since most instances connected to dog bites result from fear, it is advisable to train your four-legged pet to get used to various sights and sounds he is more likely to see or hear everyday. A dog that is appropriately socialized is less likely to become afraid and develop undesirable behaviors.

Based on the article, it's possible to train your four-legged pet to be a good member of the family. Your fuzzy little friend will be the wisest on the block in no time at all and everyone will be inquiring you how you achieved it.
